Yoga as a Spiritual path
Health, healing, and beyond.

Welcome
A path awaits you.
Rooted in the classical lineage of T.K.V. Krishnamacharya, this is yoga as it used to be: Profoundly personal—a spiritual journey of transformation and healing.
This is a remembrance of your wholeness, your soul, and your connection to Source.
About Kate Bendall
I offer yoga as a sacred and spiritual path — a journey toward clarity, connection, and ultimately freedom.
Rooted in the classical tradition of T. Krishnamacharya, which goes back over 2000 years. Taught in a modern context by his grandson, Dr Kausthuba Desikachar, as Viniyoga. This is yoga with a direct connection to its roots. All the practices are securely based in ancient wisdom, which has been meticulously passed on from teacher to student for generations

Individual Sessions
Individual sessions are designed to address your specific concerns and help you find the right yoga tools to help you take the next step. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, we create a practice that either I carry on teaching you, or you take it as a home practice. Whether you're brand new to yoga or have a long-standing practice, you'll be supported at your level.

Workshops
I regularly offer workshops in the Manawatū and Kāpiti regions. These sessions provide extra time to explore philosophy, asana, pranayama, chanting, and meditation in more depth than a weekly class allows. Workshops are a practical way to deepen your practice, strengthen your understanding, and take steady steps on your yoga journey. Transformation takes time, and these longer sessions give space for that process to unfold.
Vedic Chanting
Learn to chant the traditional way.
"Veda-adhyayanam"- the oral method of listening, repeating, and refining.
You will be guided in the correct rhythm, pronunciation, and intonation of traditional matra and chants.
Done correctly, the vibrations from mantras positively influence our physiology, therefore improving our physical, emotional, and mental states.
Available as individual or budget-friendly small group sessions

Lineage
A lineage-trained teacher means intelligent, individualised, spiritually grounded practice that meets you where you are — and helps you grow.
Lineage-based Yoga honours the sacred relationship between teacher and student (anusasanam). It provides a safe, sacred container where authentic learning can unfold, supported by the collective wisdom of the tradition and the strength of the sangha.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this religious ?
No, it isn't a religion; however, traditional Yoga is about Spirituality,
Spirituality is a personal and inward journey. It is about direct experience, self-inquiry, and a deepening connection to something greater—be it the divine, the sacred, or one's inner truth. While religion can support spirituality, the two are not the same: spirituality transcends dogma and invites each person to explore their own path toward meaning and wholeness.
What if I'm not interested in Spirituality ?
You don't need to be. The immense value nd power of Traditional Yoga is that it can be practiced for health or healing, or spirituality. Or all three. You get to decide what your goals are and I help you achieve them with the right combination of practices.
What is the difference between this Yoga and modern Yoga?
Traditional Yoga is a holistic path that integrates body, mind, and spirit in its approach. All the tools are combined, like āsana, prāṇāyāma, philosophy, meditation, lifestyle and mantra as agents for transformation, on whichever level the student is seeking change.
Modern Yoga often focuses primarily on physical postures for fitness, flexibility, and stress relief, sometimes overlooking the deeper philosophical and spiritual foundations.
